I'm Artem Babaian (right) and I'm working on my Ph.D in Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia. I research endogenous retroviruses in humans. You might have heard it called 'Junk DNA' but I study how these sequences are exploited as a means of turning on cancer-promoting genes.
